Raw Chair
Raw Chair
Design Study
This chair explores distorted proportions as a deliberate design language, where exaggerated spatial relationships challenge conventional ideas of furniture balance while maintaining functional use. The design investigates how altered dimensions—such as an oversized backrest and reduced seat surface—affect perception, comfort, and object identity.
Developed at the Universität der Künste Berlin, the piece is constructed from Douglas fir and finished with linseed oil, emphasizing natural material expression within a formal experiment in proportion.
